Asian Inspired Turkey Wings

These turkey wings will surely impress for dinner, and they also work great when you want something a little bit different for your summer BBQ. If you prefer chicken wings, they are wonderful in this recipe, too.

For the marinade:

  • 1-cup soy or tamari sauce
  • ¼ cup sesame oil
  • ¼ cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 shots of Sake (about 3 ounces)
  • Fresh grated ginger to taste
  • Pinch of salt
  • Small squeeze of lemon (optional)
  • ¼ cup fresh orange juice (optional)

Combine all of the ingredients in a saucepan. Let them come together over very low heat. Once well combined, allow the sauce to cool. Adjust seasoning to taste.

For the wings:

  • KOL Foods turkey wings (or chicken wings)
  • kosher salt
  • Granulated garlic

Sprinkle wings with kosher salt and granulated garlic. Place wings in a plastic zipper bag, and cover with some of the marinade. Reserve some of the marinade for serving later. Gently squeeze excess air out of the bag and be sure all of the meat is covered. Refrigerate for at least an hour, turning the bag halfway through.

Preheat your grill to a low heat, or set your oven to 350. Place the wings on the grill or on a baking sheet for the oven. (Do not reuse marinade from the bag.)

Once the turkey (or chicken) skin starts to get color, turn the wings over. Grill until the meat next to the bone is no longer red or pink and the meat is at an internal temperature of 165 degrees.

To plate, drizzle a little of the reserved over marinade on the plate, then stack the wings. Garnish with some extra fresh grated ginger and chopped green onions.
